Ocurus Update
Ocurus was first released in April 2017. Today's release is the largest rebuild since then, and most of it is deliberately invisible: your tours look exactly as they did yesterday, they just run on nine years' worth of newer technology.
A new rendering engine. The viewer and the editor now run on the current generation of the three.js WebGL library, more than seventy releases ahead of the one we had been carrying since the beginning. We verified pixel-for-pixel that panoramas render identically, then fixed a handful of long-standing browser console errors along the way. The new engine is rolling out gradually across tours over the coming weeks.
A faster, modern site. The platform moved to Laravel 12 and PHP 8.3, the front end to current jQuery and Bootstrap releases, and every page of the public site was redesigned: a new home page with live counters and a wall of the organisations publishing on Ocurus, a rebuilt Discovery page with filters, a public Learn centre, and honest Terms and Privacy pages.
Everything from this summer, in one place. 4× resolution on desktop, the Marketplace with its creator directory and project board, Tour Transfer, offline packages and original downloads, a phone-friendly editor, and a viewer that reads the GPS position stored by 360° cameras.
Thank you for building on Ocurus. If anything looks different from what you expect after this update, write to us and we will look at it the same day.
